Puck Shy | Hockey Meets Romance

Synopsis: Game Six loss costing my team the Cup? Check.

Getting arrested and ruining my image? Check.

Almost getting run over after my car breaks down? Oh, look—a hat trick.

My contract is up with the Carolina Comets this year, and I need to get it together if I want to stay with the team.

I need relaxation, not a relationship.

But when I’m scrolling on a dating app and stumble across the pretty girl who almost ran me over, I know I can’t let her walk away this time.

Harper is funny, smart, and doesn’t care about hockey.

I’m not supposed to be focusing on anything other than my career, yet I can’t get Harper off my mind.

I know I shouldn’t fall for her…but I think I already have.

  • Harper is not the typical romance book girl, she loves horror, hates love, and works as an artist making creepy horror art.

  • Collin is adorably in love with dogs, donuts, and not obsessed with his fame as an NHL hockey player.

  • The smut is 🌶️🌶️, pretty low-key and definitely not the hottest I've read, but still gets ya hot and bothered if you know what I mean ;)

  • Easy read, the author doesn't bother with unnecessary plot lines or additions, it's a romance book through and through.

  • Took a little while to hook me, a book like this usually takes me less than an afternoon to read, but I spent over a week muddling through it. It wasn't until about the last 60 pages that I didn't want to put it down.

  • The ending is a little unrealistic for me, and I thrive on cheesy romance where the main characters fall in love pretty quick and hit the ground running.

Overall I liked it, it definitely gave me what I needed in being an easy, mindless romance to read while I started my first week at my new job, and came down off the ACOTAR and FBAA high. If you like romance and smut, don't mind a decent amount of hockey talk and basic plot, then it's a great read. Collin is definitely a hot book boyfriend, and Harper is relatable. Plus {spoiler alert} Collin falling in love with Harper and admitting it first is a very swoonable moment.
